Cold Process Soap Testing Notes

Tested at 5% FO load, 06/01/24 with a recipe containing 30% lye concentration (water:lye ratio 2.300:1) with 5% superfat at 90 degrees. Recipe is 33% organic and sustainable palm oil, 33% coconut oil, 16% Canola oil, 14.9% olive oil, 3% castor oil, and 0.01% vitamin E oil.

Acceleration: Fast

Ricing: None

Discoloration: Light Brown

Trace: Quick

Design Notes: Recommended to mix colorants prior to adding the fragrance oil. Accelerates fast with stick blender, so consider hand stirring fragrance in. It sets up quite fast in the mold. Great for layers and textures.

Wow!

I needed a "motivator" to get the fall vibe going. This fragrance did it. I have used it in wax melts, sachets and cold process soap. I "could just crawl in the bottle", i am so in like with it. I soaped at 85 degrees and was able to do a modified in pot swirl without a problem. The batter did reach trace quite fast but my method of splitting my batter at trace, hand stirring in the colorant and then the fragrance worked fine. My soap studio is smelling fantastic, and I keep sneaking sniffs of the curing bars.

Don't make the mistake of judging this out of the bottle.

I did not like it straight out of the bottle, but once I put it in wax, all the fragrances came alive to create a really beautiful fragrance!

Nostalgic Cologne

OOB, it has a very nostalgic scent, like a cologne my dad used to wear. It's warm and masculine.

Woodsy but unique

Strong scent

Great woodsy fragrance with dominant cedar note. Not pine or leaves, just deep rich cedarwood that is nicely balanced. Worked well in CP soap - some acceleration and discoloration to dark brown in my goat milk soap recipe. Scent holds strong in curing bars.
