I’ve made soap base from scratch, and from Stephenson’s and another brand. This one is the best! It’s so easy to use to make foaming soap and sugar scrubs. Love it!

This is a wonderful base that whips up beautifully. I've had great luck with it using my Kitchenaid mixer to make whipped soap and sugar scrubs. However, I do NOT recommend the "shaving fluff" recipe that Stephenson provides in the inspirational recipe booklet. It seemed great - I followed the recipe and piped it into twelve 4-oz jars with lids. I made the full batch as I've never had a problem with this base before. Tested it out, shaved my legs - lovely! The next day, they're all hard - so hard that I can't even scoop the product out of the jars to try to salvage it. I've never had this happen with this base. Such a bummer and an expensive fail. womp womp. I don't know if it's a matter of too much kaolin clay, or if the temperature here is too cold for it to remain soft (it's 72F in my house and chilly outside). It might make a good shaving bar in a silicone mold (which is what I'm going to try to repurpose it as if I can chisel it out of the jars) but definitely not scoopable and definitely not "fluff."
