Soap Testing Notes
Disclaimer: Test results are intended as a guideline. Results may vary based on individual recipes, additives, and process.
All fragrances in this bundle were tested using the following standard CP recipe:
30% lye concentration (water:lye ratio 2.300:1) with 5% superfat at 90°F.
Recipe is 33% organic & sustainable palm oil, 33% coconut oil, 16% canola oil,
14.9% olive oil, 3% castor oil, and 0.01% vitamin E oil.
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Dark Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Performs smoothly with good working time for swirls. Due to high ethyl vanillin, it cures very dark and can bleed into unscented or lighter portions; some recipes may have a temporary off-odor that fades within 24–48 hours.
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: None | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Dark Orange | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Medium-Strong
Design Notes: No acceleration, batter stays very fluid and allows for intricate designs.
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Mild | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Very Dark Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Given discoloration, unknown what colorants can be used to combat the vanillin. If anything is added (colorant, clays, charcoal, etc.) it is recommended to be added and mixed in prior to adding FO given a slight acceleration. Soap required a bit of a longer time to unmold (extra day) as soap remained a bit sticky.
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Mild | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Recommend mixing colorants prior to adding fragrance oil. In our test recipe we experienced fast acceleration, however, in other recipes (higher in light oils) slight acceleration was noted. We recommend testing your recipe in a small batch for behavior.
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: None | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Light Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Soaped very well. Stays fluid for a long time, allowing for intricate, complex designs or swirl designs.
