Soap Testing Notes
Disclaimer: Test results are intended as a guideline. Results may vary based on individual recipes, additives, and process.
All fragrances in this bundle were tested using the following standard CP recipe:
30% lye concentration (water:lye ratio 2.300:1) with 5% superfat at 90°F. Recipe is 33% organic & sustainable palm oil, 33% coconut oil, 16% canola oil, 14.9% olive oil, 3% castor oil, and 0.01% vitamin E oil.
Coconut Colada
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Very Light Cream | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Mild
Design Notes: Slight acceleration. Recommend adding colorants prior to fragrance. Great for layered designs and texturing tops. This fragrance might increase soda ash depending on water to lye ratio. Recommend testing various water discounts.
Black Sea
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Fast | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Tan | Trace: Quick | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Recommend mixing colorants prior to adding the fragrance oil. Accelerates fast with stick blender, so consider hand stirring fragrance in. It sets up quite fast in the mold. Great for layers and textures. Can develop soda ash after saponification.
Vanilla Wafflecone Sundae
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: None | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Very dark brown (almost black) | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Very Strong
Design Notes: Discoloration is very dark, so unless vanilla stabilizer is used, soap will turn very dark brown. Can be used with very dark micas or activated charcoal.
Mahogany Coconut (type)
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Very Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Soaps beautifully, but does discolor to brown. We recommend incorporating the natural discoloration into your design and mixing in colorants prior to fragrance.
Mango + Coconut Milk
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: Slight | Discoloration: Dark Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Recommend mixing colorants prior to adding the fragrance oil. This fragrance is likely to accelerate slightly. It sets up quite fast in the mold. Great for layers and textures. This fragrance discolors to brown, so consider an unscented portion to add another color.
Oceanside Air
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Light Purple | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: This fragrance is likely to accelerate slightly; however, it should still allow to stick blend colorants and pour batter into a mold. For more working time, consider mixing colorants prior to adding the fragrance oil.
Summer Boardwalk (type)
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: None | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Light Purple | Trace: Quick | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: No acceleration was noted but the batter did set up fairly quick once in the mold. Layered designs or textured tops may work best for this fragrance.
Aloha Paradise
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: None | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Light Cream | Trace: Quick | Scent Retention: Mild
Design Notes: No acceleration, batter stays very fluid and allows for intricate designs. This fragrance might increase soda ash depending on water to lye ratio. Recommend testing various water discounts.
Better Days
Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Brown | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes: Recommend adding color prior to FO. Titanium dioxide can be used to offset brown discoloration (important to remember that titanium dioxide tends to accelerate trace). Great for layered or solid color designs.
Blueberry Lychee + Sugar Milk
Acceleration: None | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Dark yellowish tan | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes:
Great to work with, stays fluid for a period of time and allows for intricate designs. Test mica on a smaller batch because yellow discoloration may completely change the mica color in final product. Can use Titanium dioxide to offset yellow discoloration (important to remember titanium dioxide tends to accelerate trace).
Pink Dragonfruit
Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Cream | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Strong
Design Notes:
Minor acceleration was noted but soaps very well. The batter stays fluid for a long enough time to allowing for some complex or multi-layered designs.
Baja Cactus Blossom (type)
FO Load Tested: 5% | Acceleration: Slight | Ricing: None | Discoloration: Cream | Trace: Normal | Scent Retention: Mild
Design Notes: Some soapmakers experienced color morph when using blue colorants (blue turned into green). Experienced slight acceleration during stick blending; recommend pouring immediately into a mold because it will set very fast. Great for layers and texturing the top.

Using our fragrance oils is super simple, and we’re here to guide you! The recommended fragrance load can vary depending on your project, but here’s a good starting point: for candles, we suggest 6–10% of your total wax weight, depending on your wax type and personal preference. For soaps, always checkIFRA usage rates to ensure your oils are skin-safe and used at the right level. When in doubt, start small and adjust until you find your perfect balance!
