Cold Process Soap Testing Notes

Tested at MAX (3.50%) FO load, 12/29/21 with a recipe containing 30% lye concentration (water:lye ratio 2.300:1) with 5% superfat at 90 degrees. Recipe is 33% organic and sustainable palm oil, 33% coconut oil, 16% Canola oil, 14.9% olive oil, 3% castor oil, and 0.01% vitamin E oil.

Acceleration: Fast

Ricing: None

Discoloration: Tan

Trace: Quick

Design Notes: Recommend mixing colorants prior to adding the fragrance oil. Accelerates fast with stick blender, so consider hand stirring fragrance in. It sets up quite fast in the mold. Great for layers and textures. Can develop soda ash after saponification.

If you're looking for a deep and complex oceanic fragrance, Black Sea is it! I use it in all of my products (candles, CP soap, room + linen spray) and love how refreshing yet moody it is. Customers are always so shocked how much they enjoy this fragrance and come back for it often. It has a strong hot throw in candles and great scent retention in soap even with the lower usage rate.
