Cold Process Soap Testing Notes

Tested at 5% FO load, 05/2/22 with a recipe containing 30% lye concentration (water:lye ratio 2.300:1) with 5% superfat at 90 degrees. Recipe is 33% organic and sustainable palm oil, 33% coconut oil, 16% Canola oil, 14.9% olive oil, 3% castor oil, and 0.01% vitamin E oil.

Acceleration: Slight

Ricing: None

Discoloration: Dark Brown

Trace: Normal

Design Notes: Soaps very well. Allows for plenty of time for intricate, complex designs or swirl designs. Due to the high vanillin and ethyl vanillin content present, dark coloration will occur. Neon micas are highly recommended to combat discoloration if lighter colors are desired but results may vary. Testing in a small batch is highly recommended.

Scent Retention: Mild

Smells like candy

Great scent. I use it for my body butter cream. It smells amazing. Just like candy. No grape smell to me though. And honestly I hate grape. Maybe it’s just my nose.

A miss for CP soap

I am a huge fan of MWFC. I make most of my soaps and just over half my candles with MWFC. When this reformulation came out and everyone went nuts, I had to try it. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me. The vanillin is high, so it’s hard to make it a pretty soap, even using neons. But the bigger issue is the scent. For some it smelled faintly of something sweet and for others it smelled like straight up play dough. Nobody could smell cotton candy. And either way, the scent faded a lot with soap cure. First time I’ve had a customer complain, actually. Can’t win them all!

Legit!!

I had the old formulation and didn't think it was like cotton candy at all. This new version is sooo legit! Sugary and fluffy. Super nostalgic. A little on the light side but not bad. I love this new formulation!

Put it in wax!

I can't speak for anything but wax, for now, but this FO smells perfect in wax! OOB I didn't quite know what to think, but as soon as I added it to PB650 I was blown away! Most cotton candy FOs are way too light or just don't smell good at all, imo, but this is a beautiful scent and I can't wait to get it into more hands!
