A Gentle Reminder for Makers: You’re Not Behind - You’re Building

A Gentle Reminder for Makers: You’re Not Behind - You’re Building

If this year has felt slower... heavier... or just off compared to what you hoped, youo're not the only one feeling that way.

I have seen some makers in our community sharing the same thoughts:

  • “Things aren’t working.”
  • “Sales are down.”
  • “I thought I’d be further by now.”
  • “I’m doing everything right… why isn’t it clicking?”

If any of that sounds familiar, this is your reminder — a calm exhale, maker-to-maker — that nothing is wrong with you. This is part of the journey.

Growth is rarely a straight line.

We often expect our business to grow year after year, season after season… but real entrepreneurship doesn’t work like that.

Sometimes growth looks like:

  • a sudden slow-down
  • a season of rebuilding
  • stepping back to re-evaluate
  • adjusting your offers
  • strengthening the foundations
  • learning a new skill
  • trying something different

None of this is failure. It’s progress, even when it feels like nothing is moving.

Businesses don’t expand in perfect upward charts — they move in waves.

Some seasons are for planting. Some are for tending. Some are for growing.

And some are for resting and resetting so you can grow again.

All of them matter.

✨ What looks like “overnight success” usually wasn’t.

It’s easy to scroll and see highlight reels: sold-out markets, best months ever, viral posts, constant wins....

But what you don’t see is everything that came before it:

  • Months of trial and error.
  • Long nights labeling.
  • Rethinking pricing.
  • Re-making batches.
  • Re-designing branding.
  • Moments of doubt.
  • Moments of “Should I just quit?”

Success often looks sudden from the outside… but almost never from the inside.

So if you’re feeling behind, I promise you — you’re just in the middle of your story, not the end.

Slow seasons aren’t punishment — they’re invitations.

This is the part that surprises most people:

Some of the most “transformational” seasons in a business don’t feel exciting at all.

They feel quiet. Uncertain. Slow.

But slow seasons give you something fast seasons never can: the space to reassess, refine, improve, and realign.

They allow you to pause and ask:

  • “What’s working?”
  • “What isn’t?”
  • “What part of this still feels like me?”
  • “What needs to be adjusted before I keep going?”

These clarifying moments become the foundation that supports everything you build later.

If you quit now, you might be stopping right before it clicks.

This is the part that hits the hardest, because it’s so real: You could be so close to the part where things finally start making sense.

  • One product tweak.
  • One new scent.
  • One booth layout.
  • One TikTok.
  • One wholesale order.
  • One mindset shift.

Entrepreneurship is unpredictable.

Breakthroughs often come right after a season of “nothing is working.”

Almost every maker who’s succeeded has had a moment where they almost quit… and thank goodness they didn’t.

So here’s your reminder, maker friend:

  • You’re not behind.
  • You’re not failing.
  • You’re not doing anything wrong.
  • You’re not alone in this.

You’re building something real — even in the slow chapters.

Especially in the slow chapters.

You are learning, refining, planting seeds, strengthening your foundation, and becoming the kind of business owner who can handle the success that’s coming.

Keep going. Keep trying. Keep adjusting. Keep believing in the work you’re doing.

You may be closer than you think.

And we’re cheering for you every single step of the way. 💛
